Summary
The adventure began when Guri Ben-Kaal entrusted the party with a crucial mission: to journey to the Singing Pool, collect its sacred water, and transport it to the Temple of Pflar’s holy basin to combat the threat of the Hutaakan zombies. Their path was immediately fraught with danger as they encountered and defeated several coyote-headed zombies. Following the battle, they discovered a mysterious cave marked by suspicious slime trails, though they chose to make camp for the night rather than investigate further.
The next day brought them to their destination – the legendary Singing Pool. It was an ethereal sight, encircled by peculiar stone pillars that created haunting melodies as the wind passed through them. While collecting the precious water, some party members were gifted with the knowledge of the “Song of the Singing Pool,” though their wonderment was short-lived as they faced the harsh journey ahead. The return journey proved challenging as the weather turned increasingly bitter, with Mal suffering badly from the severe conditions. While resting at the forest’s edge, they were ambushed by massive spider-like creatures with distinctive sucker-covered legs. The fierce battle ended with one of the creatures fleeing while engulfed in flames.
The party’s ordeal with the rhagodessa was not yet over, as they faced and triumphed over another of these fearsome creatures at their camp. Fighting through brutal winter conditions that left them battered and cold, they finally reached a Traldar Village. The villagers received them with great reverence for their successful quest with the singing pool water. Their journey continued to the Temple of Pflar, now accompanied by a contingent of Traldar warriors. At the temple, they confronted more undead threats in the form of Hutaakan zombies. The party’s holy powers proved effective, causing some zombies to flee in terror, while they engaged in combat with those that remained.
The final leg of their journey led them into the temple vestibule, where they emerged victorious from another zombie encounter. Their investigation revealed a damaged and empty holy water font, suggesting someone or something had deliberately sabotaged it. The party’s exploration culminated in an awe-inspiring mysterious chamber that stretched fifty feet high. The most striking features included a twenty-foot-high balcony, an imposing jackal-headed statue, and a mysterious dark pit ringed by ethereal blue flames. Above this ominous pit hung a cage, containing the grim remains of a skeleton, leaving the party to wonder what dark purposes this chamber once served.
