Tombs of Atuan: Ursula K. Le Guin

Atuan is my favorite Earthsea novel, and Ged the Archmage is a bit part in the finale. It was well written and got into “What makes a person evil?” LeGuin made up for Earthsea’s shoddy pacing with Atuan.

I only really imagined Ged from the Earthsea Ghibli-Disney cartoon. Wizard of Earthsea directly mentions multiple times that Ged is a dusky-skinned island lad, but I kept imagining Gandalf, which was dumb because most of Earthsea he is 14 years old.

It’s weird because, in my opinion, Wizard of Earthsea is the weakest of the three Earthsea books. LeGuin stretches her legs a bit in books 2 and 3. Trilogies usually get weak and drawn out by the end. Another good series is Deed of Paksenarrion, which is an epic tale.
